Hellooooo everyone!
So, as the title of this edition suggests, I want to change things up. This edition is not going to dive into a topic too much but rather announce a shift in format, content, and overall audience targeting I hope to accomplish with this newsletter.
Here’s what I mean.
I want to position the Catch All newsletter for startup marketers. Marketing in a startup is….a lot. And even if you’re a seasoned marketer, pivoting to a startup brings a ton of new challenges and dynamics: balancing brand vs. performance, wearing all of the hats, navigating team relationships, and so much more!
There are dozens if not hundreds of newsletters and resources about marketing. But very few discuss the challenges of startup marketers and offer real world solutions.
And that’s what Catch All is about.
Marketers who are at pre-seed, seed, Series A, and probably Series B companies would find this newsletter very relevant. Know anyone there?
Content + Cadence changes
Every other week (big change!), I will explore a different topic - sometimes a marketing discipline such as branding, sometimes a specific scenario like “balancing marketing channels as a small team”. And I’ll be contextualizing all of these topics, tips, and scenarios to a startup environment. After all, building a brand, developing a channel strategy, or collaborating with sales can be very different for a startup than it is for a Fortune 500 company.
Why this change?
Two main reasons:
I’m committing to building a multi-stream marketing business full-time and want my newsletter to play a pivotal role in its growth.
Most of my experience over the past 4 years has been with startups. That is what excites me and who I feel most confident talking to. As a result, I want to continue to help startups through this newsletter and it just wasn’t positioned for them originally.
It’s not that I don’t think creating content for marketing students is valuable, I just have a more direct business plan now and want to ensure my audience aligns with all of that.
So if none of this interests you anymore, and you want to unsubscribe, smash that unsubscribe link below. Literally the only person to ever say that…
But if you’re still in, thank you. While the content of this newsletter will be tweaked for a different audience, I’m hoping to deliver some insightful stuff on working in marketing at a startup. And if there’s ever anything you want me to talk about, please don’t hesitate to reply to one of these.
See you in 2 weeks my friends.
